Five Staffordshire tourist spots have been named amongst the country’s best by VisitEngland.
The official tourist board for England announced the winners of the VisitEngland Visitor Attraction Accolades for 2023/24 earlier this week – and five of the seven West Midlands winners are from the county.
They appear are among 72 English attractions to pick up accolades, covering all aspects of what makes an outstanding visitor experience.
World of Wedgwood, in Barlaston, Tamworth Castle, and the Museum of Cannock Chase, in Cannock, were acknowledged for the welcome they give to visitors, whilst the Emma Bridgewater factory, in Stoke-on-Trent got a gold in the tour category.
The accolades were awarded based on scores that attractions obtained following their annual VisitEngland Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme assessment.
VisitEngland Director Andrew Stokes said: “These accolades highlight the wonderful visitor experiences provided by English attractions, from the warmest of welcomes to amazing food and drink, from great storytelling to outstanding customer service.
“Our tourism businesses are the bedrock of our industry and it is wonderful to highlight and celebrate the fantastic service and experiences they give visitors, time-after-time. From museums, gardens and nature reserves to farm attractions, estates and theme parks, these attractions go out of their way to make visits memorable.”

- A host of Staffordshire destinations have also recently picked up prestigious Travellers’ Choice Awards from Tripadvisor. Amongst them are Lunar restaurant at World of Wedgwood, Stoke-on-Trent’s The Quarter at Potbank and Cigno in Burntwood.
