Celebrity potter Keith Brymer Jones made a special appearance at an event to celebrate Valentine Clays’ 45th anniversary.

The Great Pottery Throw Down judge talked about his experiences and demonstrated his throwing skills on the wheel in front of customers, distributors and supporters at the clay manufacturer’s Fenton headquarters, in Stoke-on-Trent.

Keith, who is a University of Staffordshire honorary graduate, also highlighted his collaboration with Valentine Clays on the versatile KBJ clay, which is popular with beginner potters and hobbyists.

The company unveiled a special limited edition sapphire blue porcelain clay – inspired by the traditional 45th anniversary gemstone – and launched its refreshed branding, which is said to symbolise ‘a new era of innovation while staying true to its longstanding values’.

“The launch of our new branding, the sapphire blue porcelain clay, and our partnership with Keith Brymer-Jones reflect this exciting new chapter.”

The day-long anniversary event included live demonstrations, factory tours, product showcases, and lively conversations, as Valentine Clays celebrated its long-standing presence in the ceramics industry.

Founder and chairman of Valentine Clays, Alan Ault, said: “It has been a tremendous journey building Valentine Clays into the company it is today. I am incredibly proud of everything we’ve accomplished, from serving world-class potters to nurturing the local ceramics industry.

“It means the world to me to see my daughter, Hannah, take the reins and lead us into the next chapter of our story. I know she will continue to build on the values and legacy that define us.”
