A free Diwali celebration is taking place in Stoke-on-Trent this weekend featuring traditional music, dance and crafts.

The Potteries Museum in Hanley is set to host the event in honour of the Hindu and Sikh festival of lights on Saturday, November 2, from 11am to 5:30pm.

Professional artists and local amateur community groups will demonstrate a variety of dance styles, including  Kathak performances, Bharatanatyam, Kaikottikali, Bhangra and Bollywood dance.

Visitors will have the chance to have their hand decorated with henna and children can have a go at making a sparkly clay tea light holder for just £3 to take home. There will also be a variety of jewellery and clothes stalls in the museum foyer, as well as traditional Indian vegetarian food stalls.
