Potential tenants urged to come forward as town’s market hall redevelopment plans start to take shape

1 min read

A Staffordshire council has put out a call for potential operators and tenants who may be interested in playing a part in a redeveloped Burton Market Hall.

Following a public consultation earlier this year, East Staffordshire Borough Council is exploring opportunities to transform the market hall into ‘a dynamic, mixed-use space that meets the needs of today’s community’.

Based on local feedback, the proposal features a mix of modern and craft retail, a new food and drink area with communal seating, and flexible co-working spaces, all aimed at supporting the town’s small business community.

And now, as part of the early planning stages, Next Phase, on behalf of East Staffordshire Borough Council, is inviting expressions of interest from prospective operators and tenants, which will help assess the level of interest and inform initial discussions ahead of any future procurement process.

The council is particularly interested in hearing from operators with a wide range of hospitality, events, or market operations experience, and potential tenants who can bring a diverse mix of retail, food and drink options, as well as businesses that can offer ‘memorable and unique experiences’ for the community.

Cllr Paul Walker, East Staffordshire Borough Council’s cabinet member for tourism and cultural development, said: “It’s great to see the launch of the next phase of this work to shape the future of Burton Market Hall. I would like to encourage any potential operator or small business to get in touch if they are interested in being part of this exciting opportunity.”

Expressions of interest are open until Monday, December 16. For more information on submitting an expression of interest, please visit the council’s website here.
