Leek Building Society has reported another year of strong financial performance in its 2024 annual report, with growth in both mortgage and savings balances.

Assets have reached £1.4 billion, with mortgage balances growing by 11 per cent – now exceeding £1 billion for the first time in the Society’s history. This growth has been almost fully funded by a nine per cent increase in savings balances, which now stand at £1.2 billion.

Alongside its financial success, the Society has maintained high customer service standards, achieving a 98.4 per cent satisfaction rate, as measured by independent organisation Smart Money People.

Leek Building Society has also donated more than £185,000 to charities, community initiatives, and sustainability projects, including contributions from its Charitable Foundation. Employees dedicated more than 200 days to volunteering efforts.

The Society’s dedication to its staff has been recognised nationally, earning a top 10 ranking in the Inspiring Workplaces Awards 2024, as reported by Daily Focus here.

The Society’s Chief Executive Officer, Andy Deeks, pictured above, said: “I’m proud to lead a true ‘modern mutual’ with a proud history of serving both borrowing and saving members and a commitment to creating an engaging workplace and making a positive difference in the local community.

Our 2024 results demonstrate the strength of our mutual model, showcasing strong financial performance and a demonstrable positive impact on members, colleagues and communities. We remain committed to mutuality and creating long-term value for our members and the community as we further develop our proposition for the future.

“I’m grateful to the hard work and dedication of my colleagues, as well as the support of our members.”
