MP Gareth Snell has launched a campaign celebrating local small businesses.

The Stoke-on-Trent Central MP wants residents to nominate and support their local businesses in his Small Business Awards in the run up to a nationwide celebration day in December.

He is highlighting the vital role small businesses play in keeping high streets vibrant, creating jobs, and driving the local economy.

People across his constituency are being encouraged to nominate their favourite independent businesses for special recognition ahead of the nationwide Small Business Saturday on 6 December.

Every business nominated will:

  • Be featured on Gareth’s official social media channels.
  • Receive a poster to display, encouraging customers to vote for them.

Category winners will also be presented with a special certificate to mark their achievement and celebrate their contribution to the community.

Gareth said: “Small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities – from the shops on our high streets, to family-run cafés, to the independent services we rely on every day.

“This campaign is about shining a spotlight on their hard work and encouraging everyone to shop local. I can’t wait to see the nominations come in and to showcase the brilliant businesses we have here in Stoke-on-Trent.”

The Small Business Saturday UK campaign is now in its 13th year, encouraging people to support local, independent businesses in the crucial build-up to Christmas.

Last year the campaign saw millions of customers across the UK back their high streets and neighbourhood traders.

Residents can nominate their favourite businesses via this link.

  1. Gareth, we don’t need awards…we want your government to stop taxing us so excessively…under this Labour Government it’s the graveyard of ambition…
