Businesses gain fresh talent from Stoke Sixth Form College T Level students

1 min read

Local and regional businesses have praised the impact T Level students have on their operations.

City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College has partnered with Daily Focus to shine a spotlight on T Levels and the benefits they provide students and local organisations.

With guidance from the College, employers are matched with students whose skills and interests align with their needs.

The young professionals not only gain essential industry experience, they also actively contribute to business operations with fresh ideas, technical skills and enthusiasm.

Today, some of those organisations have spoken in support of the qualifications.

Novus Solutions, in Stoke-on-Trent, recently welcomed two T Level Digital students who supported the IT department during a busy period. They assisted with helpdesk enquiries, repaired laptops, explored networks and cybersecurity, and gained hands-on experience with cloud technologies.

Interim Head of IT and Data Glen Manby said: “We were impressed with their professionalism and energy. Supporting T Level students not only helps their career development but also boosts our team’s productivity.”

Staffordshire Highways Laboratory has been working with T Level Science students for a number of years, integrating them into practical, real-world environments.

By involving students in modern laboratory practices and health and safety procedures, the organisation helps them build industry awareness while benefitting from their curiosity and new ideas.

Testing Manager Ian Freestone said: “Working with Sixth Form College students brings fresh perspectives and enthusiasm to our team.”

At Business Lodge Stoke, T Level Management and Administration student Owen Stoddart is a member of the front-of-house team supporting day-to-day operations.

Centre Manager Paula Nadin said: “After only a short time, Owen’s confidence has grown so much.”

Assistant Principal Phil McPherson said: “The T Level programme at the Sixth Form College is about more than work experience. It’s about developing confident, capable young professionals who bring real value to businesses and the wider community.”
