Free carbon literacy training for food businesses

1 min read

Food businesses across East Staffordshire and Newcastle-under-Lyme have been invited to take part in free carbon literacy training.

One-day courses are being staged to help food businesses understand climate change, reduce their environmental impact, and gain practical tools to take action.

The training has been funded by The Carbon Literacy Project and participants will receive a Carbon Literacy certificate – a nationally recognised credential demonstrating knowledge and commitment to climate action – upon completion.

The course for Newcastle businesses takes place at Keele in Town, in the town centre, between 9.30am and 4.30pm on Monday, 27 October.

East Staffordshire food businesses can join the course at Mulberry Bistro, Burton upon Trent, between 9.30am and 4.30pm on Monday, 10 November.

Other topics to be covered include:

  • Understanding climate change and its impacts on the food sector
  • Calculating your business’s carbon footprint
  • Identifying practical strategies to reduce emissions
  • Discovering cost-saving opportunities through sustainability
  • Communicating your environmental actions effectively to customers and supply chains.

Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
