Illustrator brings town to life with unique new gift range

1 min read

An illustrator has launched a new gift range celebrating Burton upon Trent’s iconic scenes and rich heritage.

Graphic designer Sarah de Roeck has spent the last six months researching and designing mugs, coasters, magnets and prints, picking out scenes which capture everything from the swans at Stapenhill Gardens to Cooper’s Square Cooper.

The ‘Burton Range’ memorabilia has gone on sale at the Crafty Attic, a new creative hub opened above Helen’s Bake House and Tearoom in Market Place.

Sarah said: “The new Burton range is designed to celebrate the town and all the landmarks, heritage and culture which people love about the area.

“I have seen may changes in the area over the years with its industrial past, coalmine heritage, pottery and breweries making the town the ‘Brewing Capital of the World’ and it is an amazing place with its green landscapes, nature and warm people.

“The illustrations are designed to capture that spirit to rekindle fond memories, celebrate our flourishing future and bring people together through special gifts, mementos and souvenirs.”

The gift range capture Burton’s rich heritage.

The gift range is available on Sarah’s website, but the Crafty Attic will be the only stockist of the products in the town.

The Crafty Attic hub is home to a collection of work from over 30 local artists and makers as well as a new wool shop and specialist haberdashery.

Owner Helen Wheat said she was overwhelmed by the response of the community to the new makers’ market so far. She said: “Crafty Attic was born from a desire to bring together local artists and crafters to showcase the multitude of talent we have here in the local area.

“The response to the store opening has been phenomenal and we are so excited by the mixture and talent of artists involved. It is lovely to see shoppers finding unique and handcrafted wares while supporting local businesses to thrive in the area.”
