A fashion-loving couple have launched a new boutique where customers can buy and sell designer clothing.
Husband-and-wife team Mark and Tracey-Jayne Hall have opened Harry’s Designer Exchange in Stanley Street in Leek. Mark, who has run Accolade Kitchens in Stoke town centre for 37 years, and Tracey-Jayne, a dental practice manager, each work three days a week in their long-term roles while building up their new venture.
Customers can bring in designer label items to sell, with the shop handling sales and paying out clients once the items are sold.
The shop’s rails currently feature a wide range of designer names including Prada, Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Mulberry, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Vivienne Westwood, Michael Kors, Belstaff and more.
Mark said: “Tracey and I decided to open the Designer Exchange as we have always loved designer labels and were looking for something to keep us going into our retirement – although we both still have other jobs.”
The building had been empty for about a year after previously being a tattoo parlour, but has now been transformed into a stylish new boutique.
The couple chose Leek for the new business because of its lively independent shopping scene – and a personal connection for Mark.
He said: “Leek is still a thriving town which promotes retail, as well as the place of my birth. I was born in Ford Street.
“We chose Harry’s as our name because we thought it was easy to recall – and it’s also the name of our youngest son. He’s very proud.”
Harry’s Designer Exchange is open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 4:30pm.
