Joinery business In2 Kitchens and Bedrooms has been given the go ahead to continue with significant expansion plans which will see it build and relocate to new premises, creating new jobs.
The kitchen and bathroom manufacturer has secured planning permission for a specialist kitchen joinery workshop, showroom and offices on vacant land off King Street, in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, close to its existing rented premises.
Planning documents say the scheme will create a ‘substantial’ number of jobs.
A statement submitted with the planning application, which was approved by Stoke-on-Trent City Council last week reads: “By re-utilising previously developed land in line with both local and national planning policies, the development would contribute to economic regeneration in a sustainable location.
“It would also complement the mixed-use character of the surrounding area and create a substantial number of new job opportunities within the local community.”
According to the planning statement, the site has been vacant for a ‘considerable’ period, aside from being used for advertising billboards, which have recently been removed.
The new two-storey building will feature a ground-floor showroom and workshop with a mezzanine level to provide office space and additional storage. Twelve parking spaces will also be created as part of the scheme.
In2 Kitchens and Bathrooms, which currently employs three people, prides itself on doing all its work inhouse, without using subcontractors.
The company can supply or custom build kitchens, bedrooms, utility rooms or home offices, including supplying appliances.
