A new entertainment venue is set to launch at The Trentham Estate hosting a programme of large-scale musicals, concerts and special events and promising an ‘electrifying’ new way to experience live shows.

The Big Top Arena will open at the visitor attraction in March with the smash-hit rock musical We Will Rock You and is designed to deliver the atmosphere of a major gig with the comfort and production quality of a modern theatre.

The fully-covered and heated big top tent has a capacity of up to 2,500 people and is kitted out with the latest technology in sound and lighting. It will be situated in the shopping village’s car park area, next to the Big Wheel.

The We Will Rock You production will have space for 840 people at each show.

A one-night concert called Suited ‘n’ Swingin’ – a big band tribute to crooners such as Frankie Vallie, Frank Sinatra, Robbie Williams and Michael Bublé has been lined up for 10 March and a festive event is due to be announced in the next few weeks.

A spokesperson for the Big Top Arena said: “Big Top Arena is about rethinking how audiences experience live theatre and live entertainment.

“The Big Top format allows us to combine the scale and energy of a live gig with the storytelling and production values of theatre, creating something genuinely different.

“We Will Rock You is a natural fit for the space – bold, high-energy and built for big sound, big visuals and a shared live experience.”

Launch production We Will Rock You was written by Ben Elton and features more than 20 of Queen’s greatest hits.

The full-throttle rock musical – described as more of a gig than traditional theatre – is set in a future where live music has been banned and the show follows a group of outsiders who rediscover the power of rock, rebellion and individuality.

The production will run from Saturday 7 until Sunday 15 March. Tickets are priced between £18 and £45 including booking fee and are available here.

  1. Just looking at the ticket prices. Is £4 booking and community fee added per ticket or booking.
    Thanks

  2. Hi Georgina,
When you go through to the page where you select your seats, it says community and booking fees are included in all prices, so I believe you pay them on each ticket, but they are not on top of the prices shown when you select your seat(s).
I’m sure the Big Top Arena team will be able to help you with anything more specific though.
