A Grade II listed town centre hotel has gone on the market for £2.5 million as its owners seek to focus their attention on property in London.
Jomaro Group has instructed specialist business property adviser Christie & Co to market Bridgewood House on Earl Street in Stafford.
The venue offers 72 ensuite guest bedrooms and has operated as a budget-style hotel in recent years, offering guests pod-style layouts and communal facilities including sitting rooms, kitchens and laundry rooms.
The bar and restaurant previously traded as the Hogshead public house with 84 covers.
Alexi Pittalis of Jomaro Group said: “My grandfather bought this beautiful Grade II listed building over 20 years ago, and since then, it has been run as a pub, cafe, restaurant, hotel, staff and student accommodation, and more.
“What stands out is its prominent location in the heart of Stafford. It is an incredible opportunity for someone with vision. It’s time to let it go so we can focus on our property portfolio in London.”
Matt Hill, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co, who is managing the sale process, said: “Bridgewood House provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced hotel operator to acquire a freehold asset in the heart of Stafford town centre.
“There are an excellent number of rooms arranged in a modern format with communal facilities whilst still retaining the character of the building. It is a substantial property in a great location and the bar and restaurant offers an additional income stream in a busy, convenient location.”
The hotel is on the market with a freehold asking price of £2.5 million, but leasehold proposals will be considered from experienced operators who can provide covenant strength.
