Burton brunch brings buyers and producers together

1 min read

Local food suppliers, manufacturers and buyers will come together at a new, free event focussed on East Staffordshire’s food, drink and visitor economy.

The BIG Buyers Brunch: A Taste of East Staffordshire – Food, Drink & The Visitor Economy is designed to connect producers and food and drink manufacturers with hospitality, leisure and retail buyers, as well as buyers from national and global organisations.

The session also aims to generate practical opportunities to strengthen Staffordshire’s food and drinks supply chains and support sustainable procurement.

It takes place at Burton Rugby Football Club in Burton upon Trent between 9am and 12pm on Wednesday, 13th May.

Delegates will hear from speakers and buyers who will spotlight regional growth and regeneration strategies as well as how Staffordshire SMEs can connect with major buying organisations. There will also be practical procurement and supplier-readiness advice to help businesses win new orders and diversify their customer base, expo-style networking and a free brunch provided.

The event is organised by FinditinStokeandStaffsStoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire Growth Hub and Staffordshire County Council in partnership with East Staffordshire Borough Council

Rachel Wood, Growth Hub Manager at Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire Growth Hub, said: “This event is a fantastic opportunity for local food and drink producers, field-to-fork suppliers and businesses supporting the visitor economy to meet buyers face-to-face, build relationships and better understand what the market is looking for.”

Buyers already confirmed for the event include Peter Russell from the Russell Partnership Collection (RPC) , which has delivered the food strategy for events including the London 2012 Olympic Games and the LIV Golf tournament being held at the JCB Golf and Country Club in July.

Others are from companies such as Ornua Foods in Leek, the Pentagon Food Group in Stoke-on-Trent, and the University of Staffordshire

Peter said: “Both RPC and LIV Golf believe strongly in the importance of sustainable and local procurement for events. This drives event efficiencies and roots the event in the local market from a supply chain perspective.”

A limited number of exhibition spaces are available. SMEs interested in showcasing their business should email helen@finditin.co.uk

Event tickets are free for Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire businesses, and can be booked here
