Businesses in Stoke-on-Trent have a chance to learn about the key role they can play in providing opportunities for young people leaving care.

A business breakfast taking place at Stoke Town Hall next month will showcase the advantages of breaking down preconceptions and the ways businesses can support corporate parenting. Guests will also hear about the ambitions, aims and challenges for many young people leaving care.

The event has been organised by Staffordshire County Council which is looking for businesses to join Staffordshire Movement for Care Leavers.

Currently more than 1,100 young people between the ages of16 and 25 could benefit from the support of businesses in the city.

Staffordshire’s Movement for Care Leavers acts as a ‘corporate parent’ bringing together local authorities and businesses to create opportunities for care-experienced young people to access education and employment.

The event, which includes a complimentary breakfast and the chance to network, runs from 8.30am until 11am on Thursday, 7 May.
