Plans have been put forward for a significant new manufacturing facility in South Staffordshire expected to employ 350 people once fully operational.

Town planning and development consultant Ancer Spa has submitted a reserved matters application to South Staffordshire Council for the first phase of a two-part development on the northern section of the i54 Western Extension.

Phase one would see the construction of a manufacturing building covering more than 23,000 sq m, alongside 2,300 sq m of ancillary office space across four storeys and three storey hub offices comprising 567 sq m floorspace.

The facility is intended for an unnamed company specialising in high-quality, low maintenance plastic construction products including rainwater systems, drainage solutions and PVC-U building materials.

The company proposes to employ approximately 350 people in the phase one building.

Economic projections submitted with the application estimate the scheme could generate an additional £26.25 million in Gross Added Value per annum, plus £5.02 million per annum during the two-year construction period.

A planning statement states the development would provide a ‘landmark building on this prominent site that reinforces and enhances the identity of the i54 strategic employment area.’

It also reads: “The main i54 site, together with its Western Extension, was specifically identified and allocated in regional and local economic and development plans for such development.

“The proposed development for manufacturing purposes is intended to be occupied by a company manufacturing high quality products for the construction industry and so will deliver this economic objective.”

A total of 272 car parking spaces are proposed, including accessible and EV bays.
