Call for firms to share experiences of pothole and pavement repairs

1 min read

Businesses across Staffordshire are being encouraged to share the impact that local road repairs have had on their business.

The Department for Transport (DfT) wants to speak to companies that have benefitted from improvements such as road maintenance and pothole repairs funded through the Government’s £7.3 billion investment in local road maintenance.

The DfT is particularly keen to hear from businesses who can talk about a specific stretch of road before work was carried out – examples could include customers being put off visiting, staff struggling to get to work or vehicles needing costly repairs.

Those keen to participate will need to provide a short quote and photograph to be used in a case study for social media and in the media.

Declan Riddell, policy adviser at Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, said: “Potholes are probably top of the ‘complained about list’ for most of us and we would encourage businesses to take this opportunity and engage with the DfT and share details of where a specific stretch of road or pavement is having a real impact on business operations.”

Businesses interested in getting involved should email industryliaison@dft.gov.uk  with a summary of their experience, location, and their contact information by 22 May.

The Chambers has reminded firms that potholes and damaged roads can be reported to the local authorities who manage highways across the county via:
