A physiotherapy owner in Endon has cycled almost 400 miles from Lands End to Stoke-on-Trent in a bid to raise money for a vital cancer charity.
Rob Brindley, Senior Therapist at RJB Physiotherapy in Station Road, took on the challenge alongside Lesniak Swann founders Mark Lesniak and Alex Swann, brother-in-law Jon Horton and friend Paul Stokes.
The team have raised over £7,000 for The Christie Charity based in Manchester, where their friend Richard Rodgers has been receiving treatment.
Richard, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, was diagnosed with stage 4 renal cancer in January 2019. Richard has also previously raised thousands of pounds for The Christie Charity, including walking from Stoke-on-Trent to Sheffield with his daughter Gracie in 2021.
Rob and his friends faced challenging conditions during their ride, including periods of heavy rain. Rob said: “It was a fabulous experience and to ride alongside such great friends and people was very memorable.
“We had to challenge all types of weather to complete it, but the donations really did help push us through. We wanted to raise money for The Christie Charity where our friend Richard has been receiving treatment.
“We are really pleased and proud of the achievement and raising money for such a great charity.”
RJB Physiotherapy will celebrate its 10th anniversary in January after opening its doors in 2017.
The company now employs a team of three physiotherapists and two admin staff.
Earlier this year, the company was granted planning permission by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council to move to a purpose-built physiotherapy centre and rehabilitation gym close to its current base in Endon.
“We hope to move into the new building in June,” Rob added.
“It will allow us more space, better access and parking and allow us to give our patients a better experience when they visit us.”
