A Leek pub is among 10 establishments to be taken over by Admiral Taverns as part of the acquisition of community pub operator Mountain Pub Company.
The Town Crier, on Market Place, will become part of Admiral Taverns’ Proper Pubs business following the deal with specialist investment manager Downing.
The pub was known as The Bird in Hand for many years before it was renamed in 2025.
Led by Helen Standing, Mountain Pubs operates 10 wet-led, operator-managed community pubs across the North of England.
The acquisition will strengthen Admiral Taverns’ nationwide presence. Its Proper Pubs division operates 245 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales, focusing on affordable community venues offering drinks, sport and entertainment.
Admiral Taverns said continued investment across its estate would support entrepreneurial licensees and operators in running sustainable pub businesses.
