Big-hearted employees at Stoke-on-Trent-based water retailer Water Plus have gone the extra mile to raise money for a mental health charity.
Choosing North Staffs Mind as their Charity of the Year, the staff embarked on a range of fund-raising activities.
After staging a raffle and a mindful-miles challenge they carried out a “meeting room makeover” at the charity’s headquarters.
As a result of their efforts the main counselling rooms are lighter, brighter and more welcoming.
Previously volunteers at Water Plus had stepped, swum and cycled to support North Staffs Mind and raise awareness around the benefits of mindfulness and increased activity.
In total, £7,500 was raised for the charity, including match-funding by Water Plus, with North Staffs Mind saying the money has helped more than 150 people to access more 1-2-1 support.
North Staffs Mind also received additional tips from Water Plus on how to boost water efficiency at their offices.
Kate Boundy, Chief Executive of North Staffs Mind, visited the Water Plus offices to mark the fund-raising efforts by the business.
She said: “The support of Water Plus has been invaluable over the last year. It has allowed us to reach out to support many people of all ages across Staffordshire, through our group and 1-2-1 services.”
Andy Hughes, Chief Executive of Water Plus, said: “Being there for all our colleagues – and supporting our local community – is really important to all of us at Water Plus.
“It’s brilliant to see our teams getting involved in the fundraising activities and Volunteer Days we have each year.”
Water Plus provides water and wastewater billing and customer service, along with a range of technical water services and information around water efficiency, for organisations of all sizes across England and Scotland.
