Stafford Borough Council has received a grant of more than £4.5 million from the Government – and businesses are set to benefit.
The money from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund will support a wide range of projects including grant schemes for business growth and innovation.
An enterprise centre to encourage investment in rural businesses is another potential beneficiary.
The Borough Council received the money after drawing up a list of projects which could benefit regeneration, climate change and culture.
Elements of the cash will be used for helping to equip the auditorium at the new Crown Wharf Theatre in Stone, boosting the Stafford town centre transformation programme, and supporting the rural and visitor economies.
The grant, one of the biggest from the Fund to a district council, covers a three-year period to 2025.
The aim is to boost communities, support local businesses and improve skills as part of the Government’s Levelling Up agenda.
A sum of £500,000 has been earmarked for grants to help local businesses grow along with £1million to support business innovation.
Councillor Frances Beatty, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Planning, said: “This allocation of money is further demonstration of the confidence the government has in us to deliver for our community.”
