Sempar director Steve Timmis to walk Welsh costal path as he approaches huge fundraising milestone in memory of his dad

Steve Timmis, Director at leading local accountants Sempar, will lead a team of family and friends on a 20-mile walk along the scenic Welsh coast this weekend to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Steve’s annual fundraiser, which he started ten years ago in memory of his late father, John, has raised almost £50,000 for various charities.

This year’s walk, from Barmouth to Tywyn, takes on added significance as it is being organised with Sue and Dave Parker. Dave is currently living with MND and will be joining the walk along with his family and friends. The aim is to raise awareness and funds for vital MND research and support services.

Steve said: “Motor Neurone Disease is a cruel illness that affects thousands of families every year. This walk is personal to me, especially as a former rugby player, where MND has impacted several high-profile players such as Doddie Weir.

“The funds we raise will go directly to supporting research and helping those living with this cruel disease.

“As I say every year I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. My dad, John, would be enormously proud of our achievements.”

Steve and his team will set off in the early hours of Saturday, October 12, walking from Barmouth, through 20 miles of picturesque Welsh countryside, to Tywyn.

Joining him will be his brother Pete, along with a group of friends, family members, and colleagues.

Since 2014, the “Walk for John” charity event has seen Steve cover hundreds of miles, climb thousands of meters, and raise funds for causes including Severn Hospice, Pancreatic Cancer UK, and the MND Association.
