An independent family-run hotel and pub group has welcomed plans announced to help tourism businesses offer better deals and value-for-money packages.
The Government is looking at measures which could remove barriers that currently prevent small businesses including B&Bs and restaurants from working together to create tailored UK holiday experiences.
Measures being looked at in a consultation will make it easier for them to bundle offers together helping hotels, attractions and restaurants team up to provide exclusive deals.
Emily Lewis, Operations Director of The Lewis Partnership, which owns venues including The Moat House at Acton Trussell, has described the proposals as a ‘great idea’.
She told Daily Focus: “Anything that reduces red tape and fosters collaboration between local businesses is definitely a positive. The current rules around package offerings are not an option for small businesses so it’s great to see this consultation addressing that issue.
“We will certainly be looking into offering packages because we want to encourage our guests to stay longer in Staffordshire and explore more of our beautiful county and everything it has to offer.”
A 12-week consultation is taking place to seek input from businesses and industry leaders on how best to implement the reforms.
It is part of Government plans to cut red tape as part of its Plan for Change.
