A Stoke-on-Trent nail technician has raised more than £1,100 in memory of her father through a unique 24-hour ‘nailathon’ challenge.
Lucy Howlett, of LH Beauty and Nails, welcomed 23 clients to her studio over 24 hours – staying awake through the night to paint their nails.
Money raised will go to the UK Sepsis Trust in memory of her dad Alan Howlett who died last year after battling sepsis multiple times.
September is Sepsis Awareness Month, and the charity is helping people to learn more about the medical condition in which the body responds improperly to an infection by engaging sports clubs and communities across the UK with an online game.
Lucy completed the appointments with just one 30-minute break half way through.

She said: “The first 19 hours were a breeze, the final six a bit more challenging but we made it to the other side!
“It was a wonderful experience full of laughter and positive energy.”
Sepsis – as common as heart attacks in the UK – always starts with an infection, such as chest infections or UTIs, but presents differently in each patient and can be hard to identify.
It’s unknown why some people develop sepsis in response to common infections whereas others do not.
Dr Ron Daniels BEM, Founder and Chief Medical Officer of the UK Sepsis Trust, said: “We are incredibly moved by Lucy’s dedication and commitment. Her efforts in honouring her father’s memory and raising awareness of sepsis are truly inspiring.”
