An award-winning outdoor festival stretching into the evening is set to boost Stafford’s retail traders and its night-time economy.

The Stafford Walking Street Festival is back for the first time in 2023 with a diverse mix of food stalls and entertainment to encourage city centre footfall.

The town will come together to “walk up and down” to sample the offerings of street vendors, community and charity stands and mobile bars.

There’s late night shopping with bars and restaurants open and a varied line-up of musicians on stage.

Dance displays will light up the proceedings and Stu Haycock, breakfast presenter with 107.3 Stafford FM, will lead the fun and games.

A cosplay theme will run through all the Walking Streets this year with the Endon Stormtroopers attending as well as children’s favourites Paw Patrol.

The first of this year’s free events will take place between 4pm and 9pm on 13 April with a new location along Greengate Street while work on Market Square is underway.

“It’s a great excuse to get out and about to have a look around the great independent shops and cafes, pop into the bars and restaurants and maybe carry on into the early hours at the clubs and late-night venues,” said organiser Lorraine Conkey.

“Although some tables and chairs are on site, feel free to bring your own as you might at a festival.”

Stafford Walking Street Festival dates for the diary: Thursdays; 13 April, 11 May, 8 June, 13 July, 10 August, 14 September, 26 October Halloween Street Party, 14 December 4pm-9pm.

  1. Are the multi storey car parks open later.? Two hour parking then a fine makes shopping and restaurant visiting impossible in Stafford . No body wants a £100 fine for being in Stafford for longer than two hours. The advertisements should come with a warning on where not to park.
