A catering firm which has served food to King Charles will open its first bar and restaurant today.

Bentley’s Catering has been involved in various premises such as coffee shops and canteens since launching over 30 years ago, as well as catering for special events.

But the team have now taken on a venture called Lymedale Bar & Dine at Lymedale Suites, on the A34 in Newcastle-under-Lyme, which will be open for hotel guests as well as the general public.

Director Jane Hopkinson said: “We love catering and are passionate about serving good food.

“We hope to fill a gap between the chain pubs churning out food and high-end restaurants that cost a bit more. Our menu features pub food done properly, with home cooking and a family behind it.”

The 70-cover venue will serve dishes such as steak and ale pie, burgers, braised steaks and lamb shanks.

Jane and her family took over the premises just a few weeks ago and have since given the place a complete revamp including new furniture, tiling, wallpaper and feature lighting.

Once open, it will be run entirely by family members.

The venue will be open for private events – including business meetings – only during weekdays, opening up to the public from 4.30pm.

During the weekend, it will offer breakfast from 9am and serve food all day.

Jane’s mum Ann Bentley started the business 33 years ago and catered for King Charles III during an event to open a Staffordshire care home.

“As Chief Catering Officer for Staffordshire County Council, my mum catered for all the royals,” added Jane.

“I was only young at the time but I was there to wait on for King Charles. He was lovely.

“Our love of food and serving people has always been there.”
