The benefits of becoming a Charity Board Trustee will be championed at an event to be hosted by Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce

Becoming a Trustee helps contribute to a good cause while boosting career prospects, health and happiness.

The Chambers of Commerce have partnered with VAST (Voluntary Action Stoke-on-Trent) to celebrate national Trustees’ Week next month.

The “Could You Be A Trustee?” session will take place on 6 November between 9am and 10am at Commerce House, Festival Park, Stoke-on-Trent.

Attendees will hear from experienced Trustees and discover the undoubted bonuses of taking up a trusteeship, as well as the accompanying responsibilities.

Natalie Hawkins, Support and Volunteering Projects Manager at VAST, said: “Becoming a Trustee for a charity allows you to champion organisations that are making a difference in causes you deeply care about.

“It’s your chance to be an integral part of their activities and make significant contributions to their missions.

“As a Trustee, you’ll invest your skills, knowledge, time and energy in ensuring that the charity operates effectively and is governed appropriately.”

Taking a post as a Trustee also secures the chance to connect with like-minded individuals who are passionate about their community and want to do something positive for Staffordshire.

Research by the charity Getting On Board showed that 96 per cent of trustees who were questioned said they had learned new skills by being a Trustee, 73 per cent said it boosted their confidence and 84 per cent said it made them happier.
