Insurance body launches mentoring scheme to encourage sector professionals to pursue careers locally

1 min read

The Insurance Institute of Stoke-on-Trent is launching and sponsoring a development programme to help six people who are looking to progress their careers in the local insurance and financial services sector.

The six-month mentoring initiative, fully funded by the insurance body, has been launched to help address one of the biggest challenges the industry is facing – labour and skills.

The Institute wants to support the talent that is already in the local area, expand on development opportunities and demonstrate that progressive, sustainable careers are available within Staffordshire.

Natalie Briggs, President of the Insurance Institute of Stoke on Trent, said: “We are so pleased to be launching this new initiative. We know that many quality candidates move away from this local area as they don’t necessarily see the progression that we do.

“So as a council we wanted to do something to help with this. I am really looking forward to seeing the applications and supporting our local superstars.”

The Institute has teamed up with leadership and coaching expert Katie May Beardmore to drive forward the initiative and to provide training.

Natalie added: “We are delighted to have partnered with Katie May Beardmore for the programme. Having been in leadership positions for over 15 years her expertise and enthusiasm is the perfect mix for us.”

Former Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce President Katie said: “I am really excited to be supporting our local talent with practical tools on their leadership careers – and to find out more about them and the ripple effect they can have.

“Leadership is so important to any company bringing their vision to life and I am honoured to be a part of this brand-new initiative.”
