Hanley Economic to host free seminar to help people in Staffordshire prepare for life after employment

1 min read

Hanley Economic Building Society is to host its first Later Life Seminar.

The free event, to be held at the Double Tree by Hilton, Festival Park, in Stoke-on-Trent, will give local residents easy access to vital seminar sessions from the building society’s experts, financial advisers and specialists on wills and lasting power of attorney.

Visitors will also get an opportunity to access one-to-one advice with representatives from Hanley Economic, financial advisers Principle Wealth Solutions, and Accord Legal Services.

“Planning for life after work is crucial,” said David Lownds, Head of Products and Marketing, at Hanley Economic.

“After perhaps 40 years in employment, people deserve to enjoy a happy, comfortable retirement but research by the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association say almost eight in 10 UK savers don’t know how much they will need in retirement.”

Experts at the Later Life Seminar will focus on topics including understanding retirement interest only mortgages, later life financial planning, wills, and power of attorney.

David added: “The Office for National Statistics say there were 15,120 UK residents aged 100 or over in 2022, with centenarians more than doubling since 2002, so many more people are looking to enjoy a long, comfortable retirement. We all need to consider how we can afford to live the life we want to in retirement and how to manage any pension pots and assets we have.”

The Later Life Seminar will take place between 1pm and 3pm on Wednesday, 18 September, with arrivals possible from 12.30pm.

Spaces are limited and bookings need to be made in advance by ringing 01782 255000 or by calling in at one of the building society’s branches in Hanley, Longton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stone, Cheadle, Biddulph or at Festival Park.
