Gerebit's UK warehousing operations recently moved to Stoke-on-Trent.

Strike action looms at Gerebit’s Stoke-on-Trent distribution hub

Workers at sanitary-ware giant Gerebit are set to go on strike later this week.

GMB Union has announced that industrial action will hit the company’s Stoke-on-Trent distribution HQ, which services deliveries across the UK and northern Europe.

The union claims the company is funding pay rises by removing holiday and performance bonuses.

Strike action will begin on Friday (12 June), with further strikes planned on Monday (15 June).

Gerebit, Europe’s largest toilet flush manufacturer,  supplies parts to some of the UK’s largest bathroom brands including Travis Perkins and Ideal Bathrooms.

GMB organiser Chris Hoofe said: “This is a hugely successful multi-national corporation refusing to recognise the value and worth of its staff, despite being flush with cash.

“GMB has engaged in talks in good faith, only for them to go down the drain at the eleventh hour.

“Our door is always open, but bosses need to reflect and let it sink in that their company doesn’t run without its workforce.”

Daily Focus reported last summer that Gerebit planned to relocate its UK warehousing operations from Alsager to a 141,121 sq ft unit at Cabot 141 off Campbell Road in Stoke by October 2025.

The firm described it as a ‘significant and positive step’ forward in the future of its operations.

Daily Focus has approached Gerebit for comment regarding the industrial action.
