Businesses given a stronger voice on town centre safety

1 min read

Businesses across Newcastle-under-Lyme are being encouraged to help shape community safety by joining a new forum bringing together local firms, the council and police.

The Safer Newcastle Community Forum aims to strengthen partnerships, tackle crime and anti-social behaviour and create a safer town centre.

The first meeting will be held at Keele in Town between 5pm and 6pm on Wednesday, 15 July.

Delivered through the Safer Newcastle Partnership, the forum will meet quarterly and bring together representatives from Newcastle-under-Lyme BID, Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council and Staffordshire Police.

It will give businesses a direct voice in shaping community safety priorities. Members will receive updates from partners on current issues, hear about new initiatives and campaigns, learn more about the support available, and raise concerns affecting their business or area.

Firms will also be able to submit questions and discussion topics ahead of each meeting.

Charlotte Pearce, Newcastle-under-Lyme BID Manager, said: “The Safer Newcastle Partnership is all about working together. Businesses see and experience the town every day, so it’s important they have a regular opportunity to share concerns, hear directly from partners and understand the work that’s taking place behind the scenes.

“The new community forum will provide an open conversation every quarter, ensuring businesses remain informed while helping shape future priorities. Alongside initiatives such as WalkSafe, the Women’s Safe Space, DISC and the wider ‘See It. Hear It. Report It.’ campaign, we’re continuing to build a safer, more connected town centre for everyone.”
