Top Gear’s Polar Hilux to star at car dealership’s family fun day this weekend

The infamous Toyota Polar Hilux from the popular TV programme Top Gear will be on display in Stoke-on-Trent this weekend as part of a car dealership’s family fun day.

The 4×4 vehicle was used by Jeremy Clarkson and James May as part of the Top Gear team’s most ambitious challenges racing 450 miles to the Magnetic North Pole against Richard Hammond who travelled in a sled pulled by a team of ten Canadian Inuit dogs.

It will be the star attraction at an event being held at Pinkstones Toyota, at Trentham Lakes, on Saturday, 28 October.

“As a celebration of this iconic vehicle we wanted to open our doors to the public and share it with as many people as possible,” said Richard Harris, Business Centre Manager of Pinkstones Toyota.

“The Toyota Polar Hilux is in itself an incredible car as the Top Gear show demonstrated with their trip to the North Pole – a show which was watched by many. To be able to showcase the original vehicle here in Stoke is brilliant.”

Arctic Trucks, the company behind the converted Toyota Polar Hilux which appeared on the show, will also be attending the day.

Carrim Bundhun from Arctic Trucks said: “We are thrilled to be coming to Stoke-on-Trent with our vehicle. We know just how popular this vehicle was then and how much interest it had when on the TV show all those years ago – and even now people still love to see it. We cannot wait to be in Stoke.”

Visitors will also be able to compete for prizes in giant size Scalextric and racing car simulator races.

Complimentary pizzas and refreshments will also be available.

The fun day starts at 10am and will run all day.
