Staffordshire Brewery ups brewing and packaging capabilities

1 min read

Staffordshire Brewery has made a £100,000 investment into expanding its brewing and packaging capabilities.

The Cheddleton-based firm, which has its own range of ales but also offers contract brewing, distilling and packaging, has installed two new beer holding tanks and purchased new semi-automatic keg washing and filling equipment.

The investment will allow the firm to increase its brewing capacity by 15,000 litres a week.

Managing Director Adrian Corke has told Daily Focus that the current economy has made planning ahead ‘a little more’ difficult and it is also waiting to find out what impact the new packaging levy will have on the business.

He said: “This investment will allow us to increase our brewing capacity with ease, without increasing fixed running costs.

“We have also installed a series of compactors for recycling of cardboard and various plastics, which has cut down on skip hire and associated costs.”

Adrian added: “Overall, given the economy, we’re doing ok at the moment and are particularly busy in the contract packaging side of the business, dealing with 200 to 250 other breweries around the country.”

  • Last month, Daily Focus reported that Staffordshire businesses could be hit by huge bills totalling hundreds of thousands of pounds if Government plans to introduce a new packaging levy are implemented. To read that story, click here.
