An electronics manufacturer has boosted production with a £1.6 million investment in its production lines at its Newcastle-under-Lyme factory.
Incap Electronics UK has upgraded its surface-mount technology (SMT) lines as part of a long-term strategy to enhance operational efficiency and meet rising customer demand.
The investment has seen the company consolidate four SMT lines into two more efficient and flexible ones, increasing production capacity and reducing costs. The upgrade includes state-of-the-art Panasonic printers, high-speed placement machines and intelligent barcode-based scanning systems.
Managing Director Jamie Maughan said: “This investment strengthens our ability to support current and future customer demand while also improving operational efficiency. We have also signed a new 10-year lease for our facility, which reflects our long-term commitment to our customers, employees, and the region.”
Production capacity has increased by more than 55 per cent, with a 49 per cent reduction in defects reported over the past year. The new lines also allow for larger printed circuit board sizes and better data capture, allowing for future system integration and further scalability.
Newcastle MP Adam Jogee, who attended the official opening, said: “This investment is helping to secure local jobs and deliver British-made products for our National Health Service and the defence sector. It’s great to see this new technology in operation and creating more capacity for lifesaving equipment being made right here in Newcastle-under-Lyme.”
