A leading UK energy storage firm is moving to a new corporate headquarters in Newcastle-under-Lyme – creating more than 40 jobs.
GivEnergy has bought Osprey House, on Brymbo Road, as part of a £6 million investment it is making in the North Staffordshire area.
The three-storey, 25,130 sq ft facility, formerly the site of Phones 4U, has sat disused for five years. Thanks to the investment it will be home to 60 employees in the Spring, with plans to create at least 40 more jobs before the close of 2023.
The new base will serve as GivEnergy’s UK HQ and will host the firm’s office-based staff. There will be one floor for customer support, one for software and app developers and one for the operations team, spanning finance, HR sales and marketing.
New jobs will be created in all these areas with an immediate focus to recruit support and development employees.
In January, the company, which currently has offices in Fenton, received planning permission for the first phase of a new £15m investment in two factories on Chemical Lane, Stoke-on-Trent, where it will manufacture its technology such as electric vehicle chargers, solar inverters and batteries.
The factories will host manufacturing and engineering-based employees and the company is also looking to fill lab engineer roles for the site.

“We are possibly the current fastest growing and heaviest physical investor in the Newcastle and Stoke area, and our new base will allow us to continue our commitment to local investment while facilitating new jobs.”
With the renewable energy market soaring, GivEnergy is currently navigating what it calls a “hyper-growth curve”.
Meanwhile, the company – which has manufacturing and research & development facilities in the UK, Ireland, Australia and Shenzhen China – is set to hit circa 500 per cent growth for the financial year ending March 2023.

“As well as the new manufacturing facility in Stoke, this new Newcastle HQ will allow us to continue bringing rewarding, well-paid roles in the renewables sector to an underfunded area. We want to make Stoke and Newcastle a ‘centre of excellence’ for the renewable industry.”
GivEnergy will move into its new premises in Q2 of 2023, after working with local businesses to design and decorate the building
