A new immersive children’s play village, themed around some of Staffordshire’s most iconic landmarks, has officially opened.

The £250,000 Adventure Mini Village at Waterworld Leisure Resort is designed with early years and primary school children in mind – while allowing parents to join in alongside them.

It features its very own Staffordshire Barge and offers youngsters the chance to visit shops, the post office, the hospital and a vet’s surgery as well as take to the stage at a recreation of the New Vic Theatre or create a pot in a kiln.

The Stoke-on-Trent attraction is expected to create 10 new jobs and investment has focussed on supporting local businesses during the design and build stage.

The official ribbon cutting was performed by Waterworld directors, and representatives of the company behind the design and build of the unique attraction, DKMD Role-Play Villages.

Shanie Chaudry-Goodall cuts the ribbon to declare the Adventure Mini Village officially open.

Waterworld chairman Mo Chaudry described it as a “fantastic creative effort by our talented team”.

He added: “This attraction is an opportunity for us to celebrate some of the iconic Staffordshire brands and educate the future generations about our heritage.

“Every little detail has been thought through to create a ‘mini’ attraction with a difference, for the local communities and the many thousands of tourist visitors who can now enjoy another new experience at the Waterworld resort.”

Waterworld Leisure Resort has invested more than £12 million into its Festival Park-based site over the past few years.

Four new water rides have been added to the tropical aqua park, two mini golf courses have opened and a three-storey M Club gym, with more than 400 pieces of equipment, is now housed in a 70,000 sq ft expansion.

A new Nurture Childcare business is also due to open at the complex later this year.

The village even has its own play oatckae shop.
