A family-run meat producer has had two of its products recognised by the Great British Food Awards 2023.
Packington Free Range has won a host of top awards for its food in recent years, including eight accolades at the Great Taste Awards, reported by Daily Focus here in August.
It is now celebrating success with its whole chicken picking up a gold award and its pork loin receiving silver, taking the Barton-under-Needwood company’s number of Great British Food Awards received since 2020 up to nine.
Director Alec Mercer said: “Being recognised with the prestigious Gold award from Great British Food for our free-range whole chicken along with a Silver award for our Packington pork loin really means so much to independent producers such as ourselves.”
Alec added: “We are a family-run business prioritising the animal’s welfare and environmental schemes above all else, and are thrilled the hard work and determination of the entire team has been recognised.
“This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality and flavour, and we’re immensely proud to receive these awards.”
The Mercer family has been farming the land in Staffordshire since 1922.
Their chicken and pork products can be found in butchers and farm shops nationwide as well as via Ocado, Harrods and their own website.
