Colleagues at a Trentham adhesives firm are nearing the last lap of covering 25,000 miles in a charity challenge.
Building Adhesives Limited, the market leader for tiling products, is raising money in memory of a much-loved employee who passed away from cancer.
Participants are running, cycling, swimming or even rowing to complete the equivalent of travelling around the world on the equator.
The challenge is in remembrance of Avril Worrall, a key member of the R&D and Quality team for Building Adhesives Ltd/ARDEX UK for more than 21 years.
The fundraising effort – dubbed “Journey Around the Worrall” – is being mounted in aid of Douglas Macmillan Hospice, the Worrall family’s nominated charity who did so much to support Avril during her fight.
On 21 May – Avril’s birthday – the team are completing the challenge at Longton Park, in Stoke-on-Trent, and are inviting supporters to join them for one last mile.
The sponsored walk will start at 1pm, with each participant invited to donate £2 to boost the fundraising pot which currently stands at £1,200.
Organiser Joe Myatt-Winterton, QC Controller, said: “We are approaching the finish line of our 25,000 mile challenge in memory of Avril and to mark this great milestone we’d love everyone to join us for a finale walk.
“While it has been extremely challenging, it’s also brought us closer together as a team as well as providing happiness and support to each other – something that Avril always did for those around her.”
To help boost the fundraising pot, all donations are welcome via this website.
