Experienced engineering and sales specialist appointed by Unilathe as growth plans step up

1 min read

Expanding Stoke-on-Trent engineering specialist Unilathe has appointed Craig Wintle as its Business Development Executive.

Vastly experienced Craig, who has a 40-year engineering and sales career in aerospace, aviation and defence industries, has been recruited to take the company to its next stage of growth.

As well as reinforcing and expanding Unilathe’s traditional sectors of operation, he will also spearhead a push into new markets like defence and nuclear.

The father-of-three, from Mitcheldean, Forest of Dean, in Gloucestershire, says he is relishing the opportunity to bring his wide-ranging career experience to bear at a company which has the infrastructure, equipment and expertise to outstrip its competitors.

Craig said: “As soon as I saw the extensive capabilities Unilathe has to offer I was hooked.

“There are great opportunities for this company. The direction of its strategic path and how it aligns to my experience and knowledge means there is a fantastic future ahead.

“My early engagement is around how we take Unilathe forward into its next stage of expansion.

“This involves strengthening the company’s foothold in existing arenas and an evolving strategy to help the business grow in sectors like UK defence and aerospace.

“There is definitely an absence of this kind of specialist engineering company out there.

“Unilathe’s machining capability, capacity and skill set certainly outstrips typical machining capabilities that exist in the UK and my challenge is to capitalise on that.”

Unilathe Associate Director Philip Sims added: “We are genuinely excited at the prospect of Craig taking us into a range of perceived growth areas – particular aerospace and defence – where we believe we have the capability but not necessarily the contacts.

“With his experience, Craig can fill that void, which means we are in position to capitalise on his appointment to develop that side of the business quite significantly.”
