Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce is proud to announce the finalists for the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year Award, a highlight of the 2025 Business Awards, proudly sponsored by the University of Staffordshire.
This award celebrates visionary individuals who have made a significant impact through launching successful businesses or transforming existing companies. Judges were looking for individuals that demonstrated exceptional innovation, leadership, and dedication to the role.
The finalists are:
Dr Amit Jilka & Dr Mumta Jilka – Abbey House Dental Practice
Co-founders Dr Amit and Dr Mumta Jilka have grown Abbey House Dental from a modest two-surgery clinic into a multi-site dental group with over 19 surgeries across Staffordshire. Their visionary leadership led to the creation of an in-house Training Academy, addressing local workforce needs, and community-focused initiatives such as school dental check-ups and volunteer-led smile makeovers with Dougie Mac. Their influence extends nationally through educational partnerships, including with Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
Alistair Trippett – Heywoods Property
At just 26, Alistair Trippett took over a struggling Heywoods Property and revitalised it into one of the region’s top-performing independent estate agencies. Since acquiring the business in 2022, he has implemented cutting-edge digital systems, pushed revenues beyond £1 million, and embedded a community-driven ethos—raising thousands for local causes like the Peter Pan Centre and Movember UK.
Claire Gilbert – Crystal Klean
Claire Gilbert, Founder and Director of Crystal Klean, has transformed a vision of high-standard commercial cleaning into a rapidly expanding business known for excellence, innovation, and employee wellbeing. Her people-first leadership is evident in flexible work policies, recognition initiatives, and upcoming employee benefit expansions. Claire’s personal values permeate every aspect of the company’s operation, earning widespread respect and client trust.
Alexandra Powell – Powell Design & Construction
As Managing Director and Founder of Powell Design & Construction, Alexandra Powell has led her business to thrive in bespoke residential architecture and eco-conscious construction. With a team of 15 and a growing footprint across Staffordshire, Cheshire, and Shropshire, Alexandra’s influence also spans education and entrepreneurship. She founded both Powell Design Studio and The Transformation Collective, and continues to mentor future architects as a lecturer at Staffordshire University.
The winner will be announced at the gala awards evening, taking place on Wednesday, 10 July, at the iconic Uttoxeter Racecourse.
