Two staff members from car dealership are preparing to embark on an unusual but equally gruelling version of the Three Peaks Challenge.
Instead of climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales over 24 hours, Chris Powell, Sales Manager at WR Davies Nissan Stafford, and Leigh Burnham, a sales executive at the business, are planning to tackle Snowdon – or Yr Wyddfa – three times in the time period.
Their triple trek – dubbed Three Peaks in One – will see them cover 25 miles and ascend more than 3,000 metres. It is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 21 June.
Chris and Leigh plan to tackle the Watkin Path first, setting off around 2am to reach the first summit at sunrise. They’ll head down to Llanberis and go back up the same way, descending on the Miners Path. They’ll climb up once more before taking the Watkin Path back to the finish.
The pair hope their efforts will raise £2,000 for Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance (CCPA Stafford).
Chris expects the challenge to take them 17 hours to complete and has described it as ‘quite a daunting prospect’.
But he added: “‘CCPA Stafford provides essential care and support to children in Staffordshire diagnosed with cancer. These young people face unimaginably tough journeys that they embark on step by step.
‘‘The least we can do is take a few steps of our own — one foot in front of the other – in their honour.”
