Local law firm boosts fundraising efforts for Royal Stoke Bereavement Sanctuary

1 min read

A local law firm is helping to bring a sanctuary for parents who have lost a pregnancy or baby closer to reality.

Myers & Co Solicitors has donated £2,500 to the University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) Charity appeal to build a dedicated outdoor contemplation area at Royal Stoke University Hospital.

The charity is raising £50,000 for the space, which will offer families a peaceful retreat for reflection and healing. A statue of a forget-me-not flower, symbolising remembrance and love, will stand at the centre of the sanctuary.

Steve Rushton, Head of UHNM Charity, said: “We are incredibly moved by the dedication and compassion shown by everyone at Myers & Co.

“This isn’t just a donation; it’s a powerful contribution to the emotional wellbeing of families on the hardest day of their lives. Thanks to their fantastic efforts, we are one step closer to creating this much-needed place of comfort and peace at Royal Stoke.”

Myers & Co chose the appeal as their Charity of the Year. Staff have organised themed days, raffles, and cake sales over the past year, raising money while supporting a cause that touches many lives in the community. Their donation brings the total raised to over £17,000, a key step toward the project’s goal.

Tim Newsome, Managing Director of Myers & Co, said: “When our staff nominated and voted for this project, it was because they recognised a critical need for compassion and support within our community.

“The trauma of baby loss is unimaginable, and the creation of this contemplation area will provide a tangible sanctuary for those navigating immense grief. We are truly honoured to play a small part in making this vision a reality.”
