A Staffordshire-based executive coach has secured high-profile backing from senior figures in sport and business to publish her first book.
Sarah Brennand, founder of L7 Executive Coaching and co-founder of Illuminare Executive Education, has launched Balancing Act: Mastering Work, Wealth, and Wellbeing, published this month by academic publisher De Gruyter.
The book combines neuroscience and behavioural science research with interviews from leaders across business, sport and the military. Among contributors is Olympic silver medallist Adam Burgess, who trained with Stone Canoe Club and won silver in canoe slalom at the Paris 2024 Games.
Early endorsements have come from Matt Peet, head coach of Wigan Warriors, and entrepreneur and investor Sarah Willingham, formerly of Dragon’s Den.
Peet said the book “cuts through the noise” around leadership advice and addresses the realities of leading while maintaining personal performance. Willingham described it as “practical, sustainable and refreshingly honest”.
Brennand, who lives in Yarnfield near Stone and is a mother of three, said the book responds to growing demand from senior leaders seeking sustainable performance rather than short-term productivity gains.
At the centre of the publication is her “Calibration Model”, a framework designed to help leaders align career, finances, health and family life under pressure. The model is already embedded within programmes delivered through her businesses across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Balancing Act is available internationally and supported by a new podcast and online resource hub.
