Staffordshire Day will be marked in the county town on Monday with a celebration featuring live entertainment, giveaways, displays and activities.
While Staffordshire Day is officially marked today, Stafford’s event is taking place in Market Square on Bank Holiday Monday (4 May) to allow more families and visitors to attend.
Entertainment will include performances and appearances from Dappa Dance, Stafford Morris, The Pole Station, Magic Voices, and music from Trax DJ Mark. Kat K from Vibe 1 radio will be hosting the event.
There will also be street food traders, a free inflatable play park for children, an array of stalls, charity stands, and businesses promoting their services including Emery’s & Sons bringing along a vintage silver shadow Rolls Royce.
Food offerings include pies, cakes, samosas, Greek, Caribbean, burgers and hot dogs. There will also be a coffee van and a full bar.
Visitors are being encouraged to take along tables and chairs and make the day into a mini festival.
Lorraine Conkey, Director of Staffordshire Cultural Events CIC/LR Partnership Events, who is organising the event said: “Staffordshire Day is about bringing people together and making the most of our county town.
“We’ve put together a full day that gives people plenty to see and do, whether they’re coming in with family, meeting friends or just calling by while they’re in town.
“It is also a great opportunity for local groups, businesses and organisations to be part of something positive and visible right in the heart of Stafford, please support the local shops, pubs and cafe’s while you are in the town centre.”
The event is delivered in association with Stafford Borough Council, Staffordshire County Council, and local radio station Vibe 1 with sponsorship from Carthys Accountants.
