M Club unveils £1m expansion with new HYROX training hub

Health and fitness club M Club is investing £1 million into its Stoke-on-Trent site with plans for a new dedicated training centre.

Described as a significant step forward in the club’s expansion strategy, the Festival Park facility will double the size of its fitness floor after becoming an official HYROX affiliate.

HYROX – a global fitness competition combining endurance running with functional strength workouts – launched in Germany in 2017 and now stages events in more than 30 cities worldwide with more than 1.5 million people taking part in the 2025/26 season.

M Club’s affiliation with HYROX will give members and visitors access to structured workouts designed to replicate official competition standards.

Work on a dedicated, 6,000 sq ft HYROX centre at the club’s Festival Park site started this month, with an official opening scheduled for July.

M Club director Shanie Chaudry-Goodall said: “Aligning with HYROX is a hugely exciting step for us. It’s a prestigious global brand that is growing rapidly and we are proud to become part of that journey.

“We’ve invested heavily in training our team to deliver official HYROX sessions, ensuring members receive a consistent, high-quality experience that genuinely prepares them for competition.

“For our members, this means access to specialist HYROX training and early-bird competition tickets ahead of the general public. But it also represents a major opportunity for the business and the wider city. We expect to attract visitors from outside the region who are specifically looking for HYROX training facilities, helping strengthen both the local community and the city’s profile.”

Shanie said the club plans to build on its HYROX partnership and continue expanding its facilities.

Speaking about the wider impact on tourism in Staffordshire, Arthur Barnard, Chair of the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Local Visitor Economy Partnership, said: “Investments such as M Club’s £1 million expansion demonstrate the confidence businesses have in Staffordshire as a place to grow and innovate.

“Through the Staffordshire Investment Agency and in partnership with the Local Visitor Economy Partnership, we are all keen to support investment that helps existing businesses scale while also attracting new companies looking to locate in the county.

“Developments like this strengthen Staffordshire’s £2.7 billion visitor economy, diversify our offer, and reinforce our reputation as a destination that supports business growth, attracts visitors and delivers long‑term benefits for our communities.”
