University of Staffordshire graduates have recorded above-average employment outcomes in the latest Graduate Outcomes survey published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency.

The data shows that 88.8% of University of Staffordshire graduates were in work or further study 15 months after completing their studies. The figure is two percentage points above the sector average of 86.8%.

Of those graduates in employment, 78.7% were in graduate-level roles, compared with a sector average of 74.6%.

The university also reported a graduate unemployment rate of 4.2%, below the national average of 6.7%.

The Graduate Outcomes survey also records how graduates view their current activity. At University of Staffordshire, 86% of respondents said their current activity was meaningful, compared with 83% nationally.

Among full-time undergraduate first-degree students, positive graduate outcomes increased from 78.9% to 80.2%, which the university said was a record high.

Professor Philip Plowden, Interim Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of University of Staffordshire, said the results reflected the university’s focus on employability.

He said: “These results are a strong endorsement of our commitment to employability and the success of our graduates.”

The university said its approach includes industry-informed courses, real-world projects, placements, professional networks and careers support.

The results follow University of Staffordshire being named University of the Year at the Academic Employability Awards 2026. The award recognised the university’s approach to preparing students for employment.

The Graduate Outcomes survey is carried out nationally and looks at what graduates are doing 15 months after completing their studies.

University of Staffordshire said it will continue working with employers to support students in developing the skills, experience and connections needed for employment.
