A Stoke-on-Trent manufacturer is marking 20 years of supplying Royal Mail after securing an order to build 261 new trailers for the postal operator.
Don-Bur, one of the UK’s leading trailer manufacturers, will deliver the fleet during 2026, including 160 of its specialist Lifting Deck trailers that have become a key part of Royal Mail’s national distribution network.
The order continues a relationship that began in 2006 when Don-Bur built a one-off Lifting Deck prototype for Royal Mail. Two decades later, Royal Mail has become one of the largest operators of the trailers in the UK.
Based at Mossfield Road, Don-Bur has established itself as a major player in the transport and logistics sector, supplying innovative trailer solutions to operators across the country.
The latest Lifting Deck trailers can carry up to 95 roll cages across two decks, helping Royal Mail maximise vehicle capacity and improve operational efficiency.
Alongside the 160 Lifting Decks, Don-Bur will also manufacture 101 box vans for the fleet, including 50 equipped with retractable tail-lifts and 51 designed primarily for dock loading operations.
The order represents another major contract for the company and reinforces its long-standing role in supplying British-built transport equipment to some of the UK’s best-known organisations.
Steve Warren, Royal Mail Fleet Engineer, said: “Lifting Deck trailers have become an important part of the Royal Mail fleet, allowing us to make effective use of the available load volume and increase the number of roll cages carried on each journey.
“The design has evolved considerably over the last twenty years and the latest trailers continue that development.”
All 261 trailers will be fitted with Royal Mail’s Container Tracking system, enabling the operator to identify the location of items being transported within each vehicle.
