University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) has been named Best UK Employer of the Year for Nursing Staff at the Nursing Times Workforce Summit and Awards.
The event highlights nursing’s workforce achievements and the award recognises UHNM’s commitment to workforce planning and sustainable staffing through recognition, engagement, wellbeing, training and other initiatives across nursing and midwifery through its Quality Strategy.
UHNM Chief Nurse Ann-Marie Riley said: “Our Quality Strategy had a strong emphasis on stabilising the workforce by attracting and retaining staff through a series of UHNM-wide initiatives focusing on training, recognition, and wellbeing. We have made fantastic improvements over the last few years to ensure we have a motivated and fulfilled workforce.
“Our nomination reflected the many initiatives we have driven and included work such as the development of the Centre for NMAHP Research and Education Excellence (CeNREE) and the work they lead, our Improving Together Programme, and our Professional Nurse Advocates.
“It is such an honour to win this prestigious award and is fantastic recognition of the hard work not only from nursing, but the support from wider teams across UHNM. I delighted that UHNM is now recognised nationally as a great place for nursing teams to come and work.”
The award was presented at a ceremony in London last week.
UHNM was also shortlisted for three other awards – Best Workplace for Learning and Development, Preceptorship Programme of the Year and Best Employer for Staff Recognition and Engagement.
