Hickory’s announces second Staffordshire restaurant is coming

1 min read

Hickory’s has announced it is to open a second Staffordshire venue with 100 jobs set to be created and a ‘significant’ investment being made into transforming a pub.

The smokehouse restaurant concept has earmarked the current Chase Gate pub and restaurant in Cannock for its next site, just months after opening in Stafford at the end of last year.

The Chase Gate team have been informed of the plans for the venue and the pub is expected to close in October.

It is due to reopen as Hickory’s Smokehouse in early 2026.

Final touches are being put together for plans for the new restaurant, with more details expected to be shared this Autumn.

Hickory’s is known for its high quality barbecued and smokehouse food. Its Stafford restaurant on Kingsway features a chef’s bar where guests can watch food being cooked, a cinema room for young diners and an interactive Fro-Co (frozen custard) creation station.

A Hickory’s spokesperson said: “We are excited to be heading to Cannock – it’s a new area for us but an area that has been on our radar for some time now.

“We are so happy to be finally planning our first in the town and our second in the wonderful county of Staffordshire.

“Our new Cannock home is just 20 minutes away from our hugely popular smokehouse in Stafford, so we know a lot of our regular guests will be pleased to get their BBQ fix a little closer to home.”

The spokesperson added: “We’ll be spending more time getting to know the local area and our ambition is to create something truly special. We are looking forward to becoming part of the community for many years to come.”

There are currently 30 Hickory’s restaurants around the country.
