£1.5m fund launched to boost South Staffordshire businesses and communities

1 min read

South Staffordshire businesses are set to benefit from a new £1.5 million fund championing projects that improve local areas, strengthen communities and boost the district’s economy.

The Community and Business Investment Fund has been introduced by South Staffordshire Council and will back a range of community, environmental and business-focused initiatives across the area, delivered through two strands.

The Business Investment Fund will provide support for South Staffordshire businesses with grants ranging from £1,000 to £7,000. It will back projects designed to meet local needs and strengthen the economy, including support for entrepreneurs, expanding firms and efforts to revitalise village centres.

Alongside this, Community Groups and Local Initiatives Fund offers grants between £1,000 and £10,000 for community-led projects responding to local need, such as events, clean-up campaigns, educational activities, sustainability projects and volunteer training.

The investment follows a four-year period in which almost £5.8 million was injected into South Staffordshire through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Leader of South Staffordshire Council, Councillor Kath Perry MBE, said: “This fund is about putting investment where it can make the biggest difference locally.

“We know that the best ideas often come from the people who live and work in our communities, so we want to encourage people to come forward with ideas, work together, and help shape places they are proud to live and work in.

“This fund is an excellent opportunity for local people and local businesses to make real change for the future of South Staffordshire.”
